Colonel James W. Clark, Deputy Commander, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune

   Colonel Clark is from Tollesboro, KY, and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps through the PLC program in May 1985 following his graduation from Morehead State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (Finance). 

    After completion of The Basic School and the Ground Supply Officer Course, he was assigned to 2d Marine Division where he served from 1986-89 as a Supply Officer in Headquarters Company,  2d Marine Regiment and 2d Assault Amphibian Battalion. 

    In 1989, Colonel Clark served as the OIC of the 1st Marine Aircraft Wing’s Supply Management Assistance Team.  In 1990 he reported to Marine Air Control Group 18 where he served as the Group Supply Officer.  He reported to the Naval Postgraduate School in 1992 where he graduated in 1993 with an MS in Management (Contracting).  He then served as a Project Officer, Assistant Operations Officer and Operations Officer in the Advanced Amphibious Assault Program Office until 1997. 

    From 1997-2000, he served as the Company Commander for Supply Company, 2d Supply Battalion, Commanding Officer for Combat Service Support Detachment – 27, MAGTF – 6 and OIC of the General Account in 2d Supply Battalion.

    In 2000, he attended the Marine Corps Command and Staff College. 

    From 2001-2003, Colonel Clark served as an analyst in Projection Forces Division, Program Analysis and Execution in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

    From 2003-2005, he served as the Inspector-Instructor for 4th Maintenance Battalion, 4th Force Service Support Group.

    From 2005-2006, he attended the Industrial College of the Armed Forces earning an MS in National Resource Strategy (Supply Chain Management Program).

    From 2006-2007, Colonel Clark was assigned as the G-4, 3d Marine Division where he deployed as an Individual Augment to MARCENT and served as the OIC of the MARCENT Coordination Element – Kuwait. 

    From 2007-2008, he served as the Director of Logistics Support and the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Commandant, Installations and Logistics, Headquarters, U.S. Marine Corps.

    From 2008-2011, Colonel Clark served as the II MEF G-4, where he deployed to Iraq as the Multi-National Force – West for the Marine Corps’ last deployment in that theater.

    In June of 2011 he assumed command of Combat Logistics Regiment – 17.  In January of 2012 Colonel Clark was temporarily assigned as the Commanding Officer of the R4 Operations Group (R4OG) to deploy to Afghanistan as part of I MEF (FWD).

    In July of 2013 he was assigned as the Deputy Commander for Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corp Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

    Colonel Clark’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit w/ one Gold Star, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal w/ four Gold Stars, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.
