MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- Sodexo is looking at new ways to make eating at the chow halls around
Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune easier for Marines and Sailors.
Expected to be in full effect by mid to late August, Sodexo contractors
with the installations chow halls are adding credit card machines,
including Apple pay abilities to allow other ways for service members to
pay to get in.
"We’ve had the capabilities here at two of the mess halls and there’s a
requirement and service members have been asking so Sodexo has been
authorized to go ahead and implement the credit card system on Camp
Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point," said Timothy D.
Syfrett, deputy director with food service for Camp Lejeune.
Many service members will benefit from the addition to the chow halls,
instead of having to carry cash in order to pay their way in, they can
now use credit cards and debit cards to gain entry.
"We actually care that we get the Marine and Sailors in there and they
actually get to eat," said Syfrett. "This is to their benefit, allowing
them easier ways to go get in get a good and nutritious meal and without
having to use cash, then it’s good."
