Camp Lejeune Restoration Advisory Board Meets May 25
19 May 2022

Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune’s Environmental Management Division invites the community to attend their quarterly Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting on May 25 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at Coastal Carolina Community College, Room BT106, located at 444 Western Boulevard in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

The topics of discussion for this meeting include:

  • Unexploded Ordnance (UXO)-31 Munitions Response Site Prioritization Protocol (MRSPP): We will discuss the addition of UXO Site 31 to the Munitions Response Program including its background, hazard evaluation, site prioritization and future schedules at the site.
  • Base-wide vapor intrusion (VI) activities: We will discuss VI activities, including the most recent five-year review, how VI is mitigated and our operational VI mitigation systems on base.

The RAB is a joint Department of Defense, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) initiative to increase participation by local community members in the cleanup process at military installations. It provides a forum through which local communities, installations and regulatory agencies work together in an atmosphere that encourages discussion and exchange of information.

MCB Camp Lejeune established its RAB in 1995. The board currently includes 13 members from the local community as well as representatives from the base; city and county governments; NCDEQ; EPA and Naval Facilities Engineering Command Atlantic.
