MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. - Sgt. Eugene Lewis, the barracks manager for Company A, Headquarters and Support Battalion, MCB, buckles up before backing out of his parking space here June 8. Millions of deaths and injuries are caused in North Carolina because people do not use their safety belts. This program makes it so people buckle up more often. The program was launched by former Gov. Jim Hunt in 1993 to increase safety belt use and child safety by increasing enforcement of the state's safety belt laws.
