Jeff Byers, National Football League's Carolina Panthers' center, performs a hip toss with a Marine Corps Martial Arts Program instructor, Sgt. Brian O. Braxton, aboard Camp Johnson, N.C., March 6. The football star took part in training, observed classes and ate evening chow in the mess hall with several Marines. Byers talked to the Marines about his experience with the NFL and how appreciative he is of service members. Byers visited troops aboard base, joined in a physical training session and received the Camp Johnson commanding officer's challenge coin. Byers is the current ambassador for the United Service Organizations. Byers attendd Loveland High School in Loveland, Colo., where he was named the Gatorade player of the year in 2004 as the nations top high school football player. Later, Byers attened the University of Southern California and played for the Trojans. The Panthers added Byers in 2011.
