The first African American drum major, retired Gunnery Sgt. James Richardson, takes a moment to speak the troops of the 2nd Marine Division Band Feb. 9 in the Paradise Point Golf Course parking lot. After Gunnery Sgt. David Wilson, drum major with 2nd MARDIVE band, offered his gloves and mace, Richardson was given the opportunity the lead a band once again.
