The Receiving and Distribution section located in Bldg. 1012 provides central receiving services for all tenant commands aboard Camp Lejeune. This provides a single POC for all inbound military shipments under the Defense Transportation System. Services include proof of delivery, initiating processes for damaged while in transit shipments and recovery of misdirected shipments.
Shipments arriving to Camp Lejeune will be processed for accountability then delivered to the recipient via the Material Distribution section. Deliveries are made same day or no later than next day depending on shipments arrival. Receiving units shall have letters on file listing who can sign for their gear. If an item is designated for an individual, then that individual will not require a letter. Units and individuals can arrange to pick up shipments with prior coordination. This will allow notification of shipment arrival and placing shipment on hold for pick up. A privately owned conveyance (POC) can be used for picking up cargo, but due to liability issues, large items cannot be loaded via Material Handling Equipment (MHE) onto a POC. All shipments containing sensitive material must be picked up by units, with the appropriate force protection measures in place at time of pick up.
Oversized items usually consisting of wheeled vehicles, International Standardization Organization (ISO) containers including Quadcons and items weighing in excess of 4000 lbs. must be picked up at the Heavy Lift Section located at Lot 201. Lot 201 will notify units when they have cargo for pick up. The process will vary based on the disposition of the cargo e.g. new issue, retrograde or under a contract.
Direct delivery (delivered to your location directly from commercial provider i.e. FEDEX/UPS or Freight Forwarder) of your shipment may be against USMC policy. Notify this office if you receive a direct delivery so we can process the delivery in our system. Shipments funded by the USMC require extra steps to ensure appropriate use of funding and to ensure the appropriate service is being provided by the transportation providers.
