Construction of ‘Span C’, a part of the pedestrian bridge connecting Camp Lejeune’s Tarawa Terrace II to Jacksonville, as part of the Rails to Trails program is slated to be completed in two-to-three weeks, said Vic Olson, construction inspector for the City of Jacksonville.

Traffic was diverted around Lejeune Blvd. to place the largest part of the bridge Aug. 4 to 5.

“The project is ahead of schedule and it’s all going to look great when we are done landscaping the entire area,” said Olson. “Although the foot bridge across New River will not be complete for a while this bridge will be done in a few months allowing the population of the Tarawa Terrace to enjoy walks into Jacksonville.”
