CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River are currently under Winter Storm Condition I, signifying winter weather will begin to impact our area in the next six hours. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for most of Eastern North Carolina and there is high confidence that we will see accumulating snow. The NWS is predicting 4-6 inches of snow across ENC beginning after sunset tonight and lasting through tomorrow morning, Jan. 22, making travel conditions hazardous. Any snow that melts during the daytime will refreeze into black ice at night, prolonging hazardous travel conditions. All personnel should delay non-essential travel. In addition to snow, extremely cold weather is forecasted to last through Thursday, Jan. 23 with morning lows in the teens and wind chills in the single digits at times.
