POWER OUTAGE UPDATE: Restoration efforts continue, outage may persist until late afternoon

28 May 2021 | Communication Strategy & Operations Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune

The main substation that feeds power from Duke Energy to Paradise Point, Berkeley Manor, Midway Park, Heroes Manor, Watkins Grove, Watkins Village, Hospital Point and the 100-area buildings between “A” and Cross Streets continues to be down at this time. After the power went out at approximately 5 p.m. yesterday, Duke ran a series of tests on the transformer in the main substation to determine the cause of the outage and at 10 p.m., determined a faulty piece of equipment needed to be replaced. That part is being shipped from Raleigh today, and Duke estimates power will likely be restored by 4 p.m. today. Due to the outage, DoDEA schools with the exception of Tarawa Terrace Elementary and Delalio Elementary will be closed. All Child Development Centers have power and are operating normally, but will be serving cold food. The following MCCS facilities are also closed due to the outage:

-Marston Pavilion
-Paradise Point Officers’ Club
-Camp Lejeune SNCO Club
-Berkeley Manor Marine Mart
-Midway Park Marine Mart
-II MEF Marine Mart (inside Building H1)
-Stone Street Youth Pavilion
-Education Center
-Transition Readiness Services
-Youth Sports Office in Berkeley Manor Area
-Tarawa Terrace Marine Mart
-Paradise Point Golf Course
-Outdoor Adventures
-Gottschalk Marina

-The Main Exchange, Food Court, Starbucks, and NMCCL Pharmacy co-located with the MCX will open as normal.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a developing situation. Please continue to monitor the website, social media, and www.mccslejeune-newriver.com for continuing updates.
