Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune on December 28, 2020 administered the first doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine. Per the Department of Defense’s strategic plan for distribution and administration of the vaccine, initial recipients of the vaccine were given to frontline health care providers and personnel with the Emergency Department/Trauma Department, Intensive Care Unit and other frontline workers as identified by the facility. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial stands in honor of those who have served our country in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Nov. 5, 2020. Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and the city of Jacksonville will be hosting a virtual Beirut Memorial Observance ceremony at the Beirut Memorial in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Oct. 24, 2020. - Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and the city of Jacksonville will be hosting a virtual Beirut Memorial Observance ceremony at the Beirut Memorial in Jacksonville, North Carolina, Oct. 24, 2020. The memorial observance is held annually to honor the survivors and the fallen service members who served in Lebanon from 1958 to 1984 and in Grenada. According to William Chevers, a former combat engineer with Charlie Company, 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, the memorial is not only an incredible remembrance of the service members tragically lost that day, but an outstanding example of a community that came together to pay their respects to the amazing men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice.
