Rodney Anderson, right, chairman, North Carolina Military Affairs Commission during the 2023 North Carolina Defense Summit (NCDS) in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sept. 28, 2023. Dentel, a retired U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Major, was awarded for his work elevating the quality of life for Marines, Sailors, and their families at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River. The NCDS presents best practices concerning the military, community, and defense industry with the goal of advancing North Carolina as the most military- and veteran-friendly state in the nation.
