Base to cancel non-essential services due to dangerous icy road conditions, schools closed Wednesday

Due to continued wintry weather conditions, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune non-essential civilian and military personnel will not be required to report to work Wednesday, Feb. 12, and based on current forecasts, the base expects to resume normal operations Thursday, Feb. 13.

Camp Lejeune Dependents Schools will also be closed Wednesday.

The commissary and Main Exchange will also be closed Wednesday. The Hadnot Point Marine Mart remains open, but motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution on area roads as icy conditions persist.

A select number of Marine Marts and the Wallace Creek Fitness Center will attempt to open if road conditions improve. Please visit www.facebook.com/mccscamplejeune for the latest information regarding potential changes in operating hours for MCCS activities.

While all Camp Lejeune gates remain open, the Sneads Ferry Bridge on NC-172 remains closed due to hazardous icy conditions.

Essential personnel and shift workers should contact their chain of command or work supervisor for reporting instructions.

Military and civilian personnel of tenant commands who have questions regarding specific reporting circumstances should contact their chain of command or work supervisor for instruction.
