Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics scheduled for Saturday

The seventh annual Polar Plunge aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune will take place Saturday, Jan. 11 at Onslow Beach.

Hundreds will be “freezin’ for a reason” to show their support for Special Olympics of Onslow County for their annual major fundraising event.

The Polar Plunge is an event for the whole family including a children’s sandcastle contest, costume contests for individuals and teams, door prizes and more.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with activities planned throughout the morning until individuals, families and teams assemble for the plunge at 10:40 a.m., and the plunge will begin promptly at 11 a.m.

For those wishing to participate, individuals plunge with a minimum pledge of $25, teams of 8-20 plunge with a minimum pledge of $200, teams of 21-30 plunge with a minimum pledge of $300 and teams of 31 or more plunge with a minimum pledge of $400.  For more information, please visit sonconslow.org.
