Sergeant Major, Headquarters and Support Battalion
Sergeant Major Paul T. Costa

SgtMaj Costa enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1993 and graduated recruit training at MCRD Parris Island, SC. Following recruit training; Private First Class Costa attended Marine Combat Training at Camp Geiger, NC and his Military Occupation Specialty School at Fort McClellan, AL.

In April 1994, PFC Costa reported to Military Police Company, 1st MARDIV.

In April 1997, Cpl Costa reported to CSSG-3, Kaneohe Bay, HI.

In May 2000, Sgt Costa reported to Marine Helicopter Squadron One (HMX-1), Quantico, VA.

In January 2005, SSgt Costa reported to Parris Island for duty as a DI, SDI, Series GySgt and Company 1stSgt with 2nd Recruit Training Battalion.

In May 2008, GySgt Costa reported to Military Police Company, 2nd MARDIV as the Operations Chief.  During his tour GySgt Costa deployed as a Military Advisor to the 51st Brigade, 14th Iraqi Army Division in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

In January 2010, 1stSgt Costa reported to CLR-27, II MLG where he served as a Company 1stSgt and as the Regimental SgtMaj.

In March 2012, 1stSgt Costa reported for duty as the I&I First Sergeant of Co E, Anti-Terrorism Battalion, 4th MARDIV in Tallahassee, Florida.

In August 2013, 1stSgt Costa reported for duty at 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2d MARDIV where he deployed as the BN SgtMaj(FWD) for 2d Combat Engineer Battalion in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In April 2015, SgtMaj Costa reported for duty at Third Battalion, Eighth Marine Regiment where he deployed as the GCE for Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force, Crisis Response-Africa, and the Black Sea Rotational Force 15.2.

In September 2016, SgtMaj Costa reported for duty at 2d Reconnaissance Battalion, 2d MARDIV.

In September 2018, SgtMaj Costa reported for duty as Senior Enlisted Advisor for the Marine Corps Training Mission, United Arab Emirates.

In November 2020, SgtMaj Costa assumed his current billet and proudly serves as a member of Headquarters and Support Battalion, MCB Camp Lejeune.

Sergeant Major Costa’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with gold star (2nd award), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars (3rd award), and the Presidential Service Badge.
