Increased Security Posture at Camp Lejeune and New River
4 Jan 2025

Effective immediately, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River will implement increased security measures at all entry gates to the installations.

Due to the recent events in Las Vegas and New Orleans and as a precaution to ensure the safety and security of personnel and facilities, the commander of United States Northern Command has directed all installations to execute heightened security measures. These measures include 100% ID checks, random vehicle inspections, and the suspension of the Trusted Traveler Program until further notice.

The Trusted Traveler Program allowed DoD-affiliated sponsors to vouch for other occupants within the same vehicle to gain entry onto an installation. With the suspension of the program, all individuals entering the installation must possess a valid form of Department of Defense identification such as a Common Access Card. Those who do not possess such identification must report to the respective installation’s Visitor Center to request access.

Drivers should expect delays and random inspections at all entry gates as we enhance the security posture of our installations to ensure our ability to project combat power when and where required.
