The requirement to obtain a REAL ID has been extended to May 7, 2025; however, a REAL ID is required to access DoD installations if you do not have a DoD ID card.

The purposes covered by the REAL ID Act are: accessing federal facilities, such a military installations, entering nuclear power plants and boarding federally regulated commercial aircraft.

Until further notice, personnel will need to visit a local North Carolina DMV office to obtain a REAL ID.

Any contracted services and visitors seeking access to Marine Corps installations who do not already have access via a Department of Defense credential (Common Access Card, Uniformed Services Identification Card, DBIDS credential, etc.) will be required to provide a REAL ID to gain installation access, effective Feb. 27, 2023. For additional details, please review MARADMIN 108/23.
