The Camp Lejeune Veterinary Services Branch provides comprehensive food protection and animal health services to multiple activities across MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River. Our team is comprised of veterinarians, animal care specialists, veterinary food inspectors, and civilian personnel whose primary mission is to conduct food safety inspections and provide veterinary care for government-owned animals.

Our veterinary food inspectors are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the food supply for our military communities. This includes conducting regular facility inspections and providing support during food safety emergencies and special events to the following activities and services:

  • Antiterrorism Office
  • Defense Commissary Agency
  • DoDEA Camp Lejeune Community Schools
  • Marine Corps Community Service
  • Marine Corps Exchange (MCX)
  • Troop Feeding Program

We provide complete medical, dental, and emergency veterinary care for military working dogs and other government-owned animals. Our staff conducts routine inspections at the Military Working Dog kennels, MCCS Equine Stables, and the Tarawa Terrace Youth Pavilion to monitor the health and welfare of these animals, in addition to providing support to the Provost Marshal's Office (PMO) K-9 Kennel, Domestic Animal Control (DACO), and the Naval Criminal Investigation Service (NCIS).

The Camp Lejeune Veterinary Treatment Facility (VTF) offers appointment-based services for the pets of service members and their families.

  • Location: 2459 Iwo Jima Blvd., Tarawa Terrace, NC
  • Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m.
    • Closed on all federal holidays and military training holidays.
  • How to Make an Appointment: To schedule an appointment, please call: 910-450-1607

We do not provide emergency services for Privately Owned Animals.

Services Offered Description
Wellness & Preventative Care Includes vaccinations, microchipping, Heartworm and tickborne disease screening, and preventative medications.
Non-Emergency Sick Calls For non-emergent issues such as skin and ear problems or imaging. Chronic, emergency, or specialty cases will be referred to an off-post provider for care and follow-up.
Animal Health Certificates For service-members traveling overseas with pets on official orders. Owners should visit https://www.aphis.usda.gov/pet-travel for all country-specific requirements and timelines to begin the process.
Spays/Neuters and Basic Soft-Tissue Procedures Includes routine castration and other common soft-tissue surgeries.
Comprehensive Oral Health Assessment and Treatment (COHAT) Includes dental cleaning with radiographs and extractions.
Emergency Services None provided.
