Important Announcements

Welcome to 1 June 2026 and the final four full months of Fiscal Year 2026!

As always, please ensure your System for Award Management (www.sam.gov) record, Small Business Administration certification, Cyber Security Maturity Model Certification and all other certifications for your business are current.  You do not want to be the apparent awardee for a contract and then not receive an award due to an expired certification.

Last week I talked about the importance of having your capability narrative section complete in your Dynamic Small Business Search profile.  I focused on Historically Underutilized Business Zone businesses, so I will provide feedback on Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Businesses (SDVOSB) this week, and Woman-Owned Small Businesses next week.

Out of the 8,178 SDVOSB businesses in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida there were with 5,481 blank capability narratives! that is almost 70%!  Again, if contract specialists see blank capability narratives, and cannot determine from the capability narrative that are complete, if there are a sufficient number of businesses who can meet the requirement; they are less likely to set aside for that category.  Here are the steps to update your capability narrative:

Step Action Details
1. Access SBA Connect Log In Go to SBA Connect and sign in using your SAM.gov / Login.gov credentials

 .
2. Request Access & Claim Entity Claim Profile If logging in for the first time, click "Request Access" for DSBS and claim your company by entering your Unique Entity ID (UEI) and verifying your identity

 .
3. Select Your Business Navigate Once granted access, locate DSBS on your main dashboard and click on your business name / UEI

 .
4. Edit General Profile Enter Narrative Select "General" from the left-hand navigation legend to open the General Products and Services page

. Enter your narrative in the "Capability Narrative" field

 .
5. Save & Verify Finalize Click "Save"

. Check back on the public DSBS search tool after 24–48 hours to verify that your narrative has successfully synced
