WILDLIFE SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR RESIDENTS:

As we approach the summer season and wildlife becomes more active, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune Environmental Conservation staff remind installation residents of the following:

Never try to approach, handle, feed or rescue wild animals. Installation personnel are advised to stay away from animals (alive or dead), especially wildlife that are unusually aggressive, tame or appear disoriented. Animals showing these types of behaviors may be sick, injured, or habituated to humans and can be dangerous.

For assistance with a wildlife concern or for general wildlife questions, please contact Environmental Conservation staff at 910-451-5226 or CLJN_GWStaff@usmc.mil.  For urgent wildlife concerns after hours or on weekends, please contact the non-emergency line of the Provost Marshal Office at 910-451-3004/3005.

MEDICAL PROTOCOL:

If you, your child, or your pet experiences an animal bite, scratch, or any physical contact with a wild or dead animal, wash any wounds immediately with soap and water for 15 minutes (https://www.cdc.gov/rabies/prevention/index.html) and seek medical attention immediately.

The health and safety of our community is our top priority. Thank you for your cooperation.
