A simple fire drill can mean the difference between life and death for children in schools. Knowing what to do, where to go and having complete accountability is vital to ensuring no student is left behind in a potentially burning building. Camp Lejeune Fire Protection Division conducted their 7th Annual Dependent Schools, School District-wide fire drill, Oct. 6 aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune and Marine Corps Air Station New River. Simultaneously the Camp Lejeune school district conducted the drill at 1:00 p.m. The drill not only served as the required fire drill for the month, but helped to keep students and faculty mindful of the importance of fire drills and exiting the building quickly and safely in case a heated situation were to ever arise. - A simple fire drill can mean the difference between life and death for children in schools. Recently the commanding officer for Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, Col. Richard P. Flatau Jr. presented several Food and Hospitality Excellence Awards for Fiscal Year 2008 to the Food and Hospitality Division with MCCS. Ten employees received the awards, on behalf of 4 Corners, Berkeley Manor, Duffers Retreat, French Creek Snack Bar, Grammy’s, Quickfuel, Spare Time Sport Grill, The Filling Station, The Sandbar and Lejeune Inn aboard the base. - Two things are of high importance to Marines… their pay and food. Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of Vice President Joe Biden, recently came to visit Coastal Carolina Community College in relations to her new role in promoting the Nation’s community colleges. Dr. Biden has been an educator for the past 28 years was appointed by President Obama to help highlight the importance of America’s community colleges. A Misfits rugby player reaches for the ball during one of Camp Lejeune's three games at the Liberty Cup Rugby Tournament, held Aug. 29, in New York. The Misfits were undefeated in their matches against Fire Department New York, New York Police Department and Fort Bragg's Rugby Football Club.
