LtCol Dufresne is a native of Alexandria, Virginia and was commissioned in August 2007. He was assigned to Combat Assault Company, 3d Marine Regiment, where he served as AAV Platoon Commander, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander. In 2009, he deployed to 4th Marine Regiment in Okinawa, Japan and subsequently to Afghanistan as part of Embedded Training Team 5-5, Regional Corps Advisory Command 3-7, conducting combat operations with the 201st Corps of the Afghan National Army in Laghman and Nangarhar Provinces. LtCol Dufresne was transferred to Marine Corps Security Force Regiment in 2011, serving as a platoon and company commander in 1st Fleet Antiterrorism Security Team Company. As a FAST platoon commander, LtCol Dufresne deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in support of ongoing security operations and to Rota, Spain as a crisis response force in the USEUCOM/USAFRICOM areas of responsibility. While assigned to 1st FAST, LtCol Dufresne also conducted two CONUS nuclear fuel security missions. LtCol Dufresne received orders to 3d Assault Amphibian Battalion, 1st Marine Division in 2014, serving as Delta Company Commander, Bravo Company Commander, and Battalion Operations Officer. As Bravo Company Commander, he deployed an AAV company to Combat Assault Battalion, 3d Marine Division as part of Unit Deployment Program 17.1, during which his company supported multiple III MEF activities and exercises. In 2018, LtCol Dufresne reported to 2d Marine Division, where he served as the G-3 Plans Officer and as Battalion Operations Officer for 2d Assault Amphibian Battalion. LtCol Dufresne then served as a plans officer with Task Force 51/5th Marnie Expeditionary Brigade in Bahrain, deploying to Qatar as the Joint Task Force Crisis Response J-35 Future Operations Officer during the 2022 FIFA World Cup. LtCol Dufresne served as the Deputy Wargame Branch Head at the Marine Corps Warfighting Lab from 2023-2024, where he conducted numerous service-level analytical wargames in support of force modernization efforts. LtCol Dufresne assumed his current duties as Commanding Officer, Weapons Training Battalion, Marine Corps Installations East – Camp Lejeune in June 2024. LtCol Dufresne’s military education includes The Basic School (2007), Assault Amphibian Officer’s Course (2008), Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School (DEP) (2013), U.S. Army Maneuver Captain’s Career Course (2014), U.S. Army Airborne School (2015), Marine Corps Command and Staff College (DEP) (2017), U.S. Naval War College (Command and Staff) (2018), Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (2018), and Air War College (DLP) (2024). He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Administration of Justice from George Mason University and a master’s degree in Defense and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with three gold stars, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal with gold star, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
