Installations ramp up traffic enforcement; Active barrier system in use at gates

20 Nov 2024 | MCIEAST COMMSTRAT Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune

As part of ongoing efforts to prioritize safety and security of all visitors on the installation, the Provost Marshal’s Office is reminding drivers of the importance of adhering to posted speed limits across the installations. To help ensure the safety of pedestrians, motor vehicle operators, and the community, law enforcement will be stepping up patrols.

Key Reminders for Drivers:

Pay Attention to Posted Speed Limit Signs. Please be aware of speed limit signs, especially in housing areas and when entering and exiting the installation. Speed limits differ depending on the area's designated use and the amount of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Slow Down at Gates - Active Barrier Systems in Use. When approaching any of installation gates, drivers are required to reduce their speed to 25 mph and be prepared to stop. Barrier systems can be deployed at any time by gate sentries to protect against potential vehicle-borne threats.

Your Safety is Our Top Priority. Speed limits on base are strictly enforced to protect everyone's safety and prevent accidents, ensuring a secure environment for all.

Please remember to:

  • Always follow posted speed limits.
  • Be aware of pedestrians and other vehicles.
  • Slow down at gates and be prepared to stop.
  • Respect the barrier system and follow instructions from law enforcement.

MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River remain committed to maintaining the highest level of safety for everyone.
