MCB CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. -- The Navy and Marine Corps will host an open house, Wednesday, April 29, to provide information to the public about the Navy and Marine Corps’ offer to sample private drinking water wells near Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Lejeune.
The sampling is for certain per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), which may be present in private off-base drinking water wells near Midway Park Fire Station and Stone Bay Fire Station due to past use of firefighting foam or other PFAS-containing materials on base
The open house will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 1016 Jacksonville Parkway, Jacksonville, North Carolina. Members of the public are welcome to attend anytime from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 5 to 7 p.m., April 29.
Leaders from the Navy and Marine Corps will be on site and partners from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services will be available to provide additional information and answer questions.
If your drinking water comes from a private drinking water well located in the sampling areas, the Navy and Marine Corps are requesting to sample your well at no cost to you. You may schedule a drinking water well sampling appointment at the meeting, by sending an email to CL_NR_PFAS_Questions@usmc.mil or by leaving a message at 1-866-622-2562.
