This plaque sits before the Bicentennial Tree on McHugh Boulevard aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. The live oak, or quercus virginiana, was dedicated July 4, 1976, in commemoration of the nation’s 200th anniversary. It was estimated to be 385 years old then, which would make it approximately 420 years old today.
