You are in receipt of orders – Now what do I do? Prior planning is a must!

Attending Classes
• Classes are mandatory, if this is your first or last move.
• The classes start at Camp Lejeune, Bldg 1011 at 0800 Monday - Friday.  Check-in prior to 0800.  The classes start at Camp Geiger, Bldg G-644, Ivy Hall at 0830 Monday - Friday.  Check-in prior to 0830.
• The assistance class is to help you set up the self-counseling application in the system. However, a copy of your orders and username/password is required for class attendance.

STEP 1. DECIDE WHICH MOVE IS GOOD FOR YOU
Government move - click this hyperlink for instructions on applying for a government move.
Personally Procured Move (formerly DITY move) click on this hyperlink to learn more about a Personally Procured Move.
PARTIAL MOVE - This is a combination of both of the above moves.

STEP 2. ONCE YOU HAVE DECIDED ON THE MOVE FOR YOU
• Login to
move.mil (click this hyperlink to get there) and click on First Time User.
• Next click on and obtain “User ID and Password”
• Next click on DoD Service Member and Civilian Registration and complete the DoD customer registration form.
  Please use only your personal e-mail account when registering.
• When submitted you will receive a User ID/Password within 48 hours.
• While on the
move.mil site you can also peruse additional information by clicking on “Before You Move,
  Claims, Customer Satisfaction Survey and FAQ” (in the red bar).

STEP 3. AFTER RECEIVING USERNAME AND PASSWORD
• Log onto
move.mil to start the process. If you need to, you can print out the instructions from the links in STEP 1.
• Start self-counseling process by clicking on the “Login to DPS” link on the left side of the page. Here you will
  be directed to input your username and password on the ETA webpage. - Click the “Log In” button at the bottom.
• The DPS (Defense Personal Property System) link will be on the left side. Click it.
• The Self-Counseling page will appear for step by step instructions on submitting the application.
• With this self-counseling process, you are setting up an application for your move.
• Upon completion of the application,
YOU MUST TURN THE PAPERWORK IN TO OUR
  DMO OFFICE; OTHERWISE YOUR SHIPMENT WILL NOT BE SCHEDULED.

 

MEMBER MUST TURN PAPERWORK INTO THE DMO FOR SHIPMENT TO BE BOOKED During normal periods of the year; documents must be turned in within 15 WORKING DAYS from your requested pick up date. However during the summer peak season (May, June, July, August, September) documents will need to be turned in within 3 weeks from your requested pick up date.



STEP 4: DOCUMENTATION YOU WILL NEED
For Government move
• DD 1299 / DD 1797 (these forms are found on the submit page of the application in DPS)
1 copy of Orders with all endorsements - contact IPAC to get orders (if needed).
   Marine Corps
     • • PCSing: Web Orders
     • • DMO Endorsement from MOL
   Navy
     • • PCS/EAS/RET: BUPERS orders
• 1 copy of ALL non-POV registrations (i.e., boats and motorcycles).
• Firearm inventory to include make, model, and serial number (if applicable)

For Personally Procured Move (PPM) (including Partial)
• 1 copy of Orders with copies all endorsements - contact IPAC to get orders (if needed).
   Marine Corps
     • • PCSing: Web Orders
     • • DMO Endorsement from MOL
   Navy
     • • PCS/EAS/RET: BUPERS orders
• LES (most current one)
• 1 copy of ALL POV registrations (including boats, trailer, motorcycles).

 

If performing a PPM (DITY) Move, you will be scheduled to attend a follow-on brief. This brief will give you all the information on how to properly conduct a PPM move and provide you the documents you will need to get reimburse.


STEP 5: COMPLETING YOUR PPM (DITY MOVE)
PPM CLAIMS ARE ACCEPTED (MONDAY-FRIDAY FROM 0800–0930)
• You can also submit it directly to Albany, GA by emailing it to
Logcom.tvcbclaims@usmc.mil
When submitting a PPM CLAIM be sure you have the following documents:
   1. DIRECT DEPOSIT Form (if changing financial institution)
   2. DD FORM 2278
   3. Privately Owned Vehicle/Trailer (POV/POT) Registration (if this was used to move HHG)
   4. Rental Agreement/Contract (if rental equipment was used to move HHG)
   5. DD FORM 1351-2
   6. Voucher For Advance Payment (if Advance was requested)
   7. Weight Tickets, Empty & Full (Certified & Legible)
   8. PERSONALLY PROCURED MOVE (PPM) Checklist and Certification of Expenses
   9. ORDERS, (Web Orders for a PCS move, 11060 for Retirement or Separations)
  10. Receipts (Move Expenses such as Fuel. Tolls, Weight tickets, packing supplies, etc.)
  11. POWER OF ATTORNEY (POA) (if someone other than the member will inquire about PPM)

The documents MUST be provided in the above sequence. This sequence ensures the claim is easier to process by TVCB, and speeds up the certification process significantly.

Lauren Nichols, the government move NCOIC with the Distribution Management Office, Headquarters and Support Battalion, Marine Corps Installations East-Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, explains the step by step process for submitting an application for a household move within the continental U.S. utilizing the Defense Personal Property System Website. To begin the process, customers can visit move.mil then click the “Sign in to DPS” link. For those who are stationed at MCB Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River, more information regarding household moves can be obtained by calling the DMO office at (910) 450-8417 or emailing ppcig@usmc.mil located on Camp Lejeune building 1011.
