Retired Gen. James F. Amos and Forest E. Spencer, Jr., National President of the Montford Point Marine Association, reflect on the steps taken to recognize the Montford Point Marines at the Montford Point Marine Memorial Dedication at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune July 29. Hundreds of attendees, including Montford Point Marines, family members, active duty servicemembers and supporters, gathered to attend the memorial dedication which honored the 20,000 segregated African-American Marines who trained there in the 1940s.
