MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. --

The National Job Fair and Education Expo will offer Marines, sailors and their families the opportunity to meet with education and business representatives at the Goettge Memorial Field House aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 26.

Since 1989, the event has been a way for individuals to explore career and education opportunities after separating from military service.

“Those leaving the military should lay the groundwork for their future by attending the expo,” said Lee M. Tuthill, Transition Readiness Seminar specialist aboard base.

“These expos should be a main priority for anyone preparing to separate,” said Tuthill. “I’ve had Marines get hired on the spot.”

College representatives and employers from across the country participate in the expo.

“Employers come every time we have the expo, because they are looking for reliable, hard-working people,” said Sonja Herring, transition assistance program assistant aboard base.

Attendees are advised to bring several copies of their resume and visit the Career Assistant Branch or the Family Member Employment Assistance Center for help writing one, said Herring.

Participants are also encouraged to wear business attire to the expo to make a positive impression with employers.

For more information, including a complete list of companies attending the expo, visit www.mccslejeune.com/jobfair, or call 449-9709.
