Overturned Cement Truck Removed; Cleanup Continues

The Argos cement truck  which overturned at 1:30 p.m. on Wallace Creek Bridge on the inbound side of Holcomb Boulevard this afternoon has been up righted, connected to the wrecker, and taken to the impound lot.

Final cleanup efforts are underway at the scene, and the Holcomb Boulevard inbound lanes will soon be open up to traffic.

Jersey barriers are being placed in front of the damaged metal guardrails until they can be permanently repaired.

On scene engineers have determined the structural integrity of the bridge has not been compromised, making it passable.

The updated medical status of the male driver who was life-flighted from the Naval Hospital to New Hanover Regional Medical Center is unknown at this time and the exact cause of the accident remains under investigation.
