Burn Ban, Effective Nov. 29

2 Dec 2021 | Fire and Emergency Services Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune

The NC Forest Service issued a burn ban on all open burning and has canceled all burning permits statewide effective Nov. 29 at 5 p.m. until further notice due to hazardous forest fire conditions. This burn ban applies on Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River.

Recreational campfires and ceremonial fires are prohibited on Camp Lejeune and MCAS New River until the burn ban has been rescinded. Campfires would be considered open burning and are not exempt from the burn ban. During a burn ban, portable gas stoves or grills are approved alternate methods for cooking food while camping.

The burn ban does not apply to commercial off-the-shelf fire pits located at least 25 feet but not more than 100 feet from structures in base housing per MCIEAST-MCB CAMLEJO 11320.1. Personnel should keep a garden hose or ABC fire extinguisher nearby and constantly monitor the area.
